{"id":548,"date":"2017-10-26T09:57:24","date_gmt":"2017-10-26T09:57:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sthelensresidents.org.uk\/?p=548"},"modified":"2019-12-31T17:52:30","modified_gmt":"2019-12-31T17:52:30","slug":"update-on-new-development-around-our-neighbourhood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sthelensresidents.org.uk\/?p=548","title":{"rendered":"Update on new development around our neighbourhood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Imperial College have been consulting on their plans for the remaining two buildings on the northern site at their White City campus, and for their 11.5 acre site immediately south of the Westway.\u00a0 Details are at this link on the College website\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/white-city-campus\/consultation\/\">http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/white-city-campus\/consultation\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There is also an item on our sister site\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperialfolly.org.uk\">www.imperialfolly.org uk<\/a>\u00a0commenting on Imperial&#8217;s approach to development and the near completion of the 35 storey residential tower.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_550\" style=\"width: 594px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sthelensresidents.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSCF2499.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-550\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-550\" alt=\"Imperial College's tower at Wood Lane, White City\" src=\"http:\/\/sthelensresidents.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSCF2499-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sthelensresidents.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSCF2499-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/sthelensresidents.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSCF2499-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/sthelensresidents.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/DSCF2499-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-550\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Imperial College&#8217;s tower at Wood Lane, White City<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Proposals for the Old Oak area<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;opportunity area&#8217; to the north-west of the St Helens neighbourhood covers Old Oak and Park Royal.\u00a0 A Mayoral Development Corporation (OPDC) took over planning powers for the area in April 2015.\u00a0 A draft OPDC Local Plan has been in preparation since that date, and has been through three versions.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2019, the OPDC announced major changes to its plans and abandoned its proposals for regeneration of the land owned by Cargiant Ltd. north of Wormwood Scrubs.\u00a0 A fourth version of the OPDC Draft Local Plan is due to be published in mid 2020.\u00a0 For latest news see the website of the <a href=\"http:\/\/oldoakneighbourhoodforum.org\/\">Old Oak Neighbourhood Forum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>OPDC plans previously included proposals for an additional Overground station on the West London Line at Hythe Road.\u00a0 These proposals have now been dropped.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/oldoakneighbourhoodforum.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300; color: #000000;\">The StQW Forum has long made the case for an additional Overground station at &#8216;Westway Circus&#8217; (beneath the Westway roundabout at the southern end of Latimer Road).<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/oldoakneighbourhoodforum.org\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The costs at Westway Circus would be a twentieth of the Hythe Road proposal.\u00a0 Such a station would serve Imperial White City and the new residential developments being built by St James (<em>White City Living<\/em>) and on the former BBC TV Centre site.
